It’s no secret that the majority of boudoir sessions are brides to be or brides celebrating their first anniversary. Boudoir albums make wonderful groom’s gifts and you’ve spent months working your butt off to look amazing in your wedding dress so it’s the perfect time to capture all the hard work! It’s fitting that the first anniversary is paper, if you didn’t do a pre-wedding boudoir session you can still gift your husband an album or an image box of mounted prints for your 1 year anniversary.
Your awesome bridal party is throwing you a bridal shower: a great tip is to put your bra & panty sizes on your bridal shower invitation. This will encourage your friends to either go in on a super sexy expensive you’d never buy it for yourself lingerie set or at the very least buy you correctly sized lingerie. You also (hopefully) avoid the dreaded bridal babydoll. Why have they become so popular as bridal lingerie gifts?! They do absolutely nothing for your shape, they make even the tiniest woman look bigger and the cups are never flattering or fitting. I reaaaaaaaaally hate babydolls, can you tell?! Friends don’t buy friends babydolls. They buy them appropriately sized lingerie or a gift card to a lingerie store!
It used to be that bridal lingerie was very practical, what would fit well under your dress with very little lace. It was painfully utilitarian in design. These days though, there are sections on most lingerie websites specifically for bridal lingerie. And it is HOT! You can be as demure or as wild with your bridal lingerie for your session, there is a lingerie set for every style. Remember, you can wear this lingerie on your honeymoon to surprise him!
One of the wonderful things about offering a 2 hour boudoir session as my standard session is that you’re not just stuck wearing only one lingerie set in your images with no variety. You can wear as many lingerie sets as you can fit within the 2 hours and you can also add a second eye an lip makeup look to your session to create a smouldering smoky eye with a sexy eye catching black lingerie set and create a whole new look.
What should you look for in bridal lingerie? I love the look of a delicate white or ivory lingerie set with a lace cup bra, garter belt, thong and white or nude thigh highs. You can even add your veil or a shorter one just for the session. Pair with nude heels (bonus, they make your legs look longer!). Combine it with soft, romantic makeup and sexy victoria’s secret curls and you have a sexy yet demure look. not thrilled with your middle? Look for high waisted panties/thong, a bodysuit or a basque/torsolette/bustier. Another super sexy and popular look is going braless with a lace thong or high waisted panties and your veil. It makes a beautiful black and white fine art print for your walk in closet or bathroom.
